The thesis provides an analysis of the second law of thermodynamics and the notion of entropy, or measure of disorder, in three early works of Thomas Pynchon. It is divided into three main chapters, each dealing with the specific portrayal of entropy in individual works. In the first chapter, an analysis of Pynchon’s short story Entropy is provided.
