The development of the discourse of civil solidarity. Postmodern era and the civil solidarity

Abstract:

Tato práce je věnována otázce solidarity. Chtěly bychom prozkoumat historické předpoklady vzniku tohoto konceptu v křesťanství a politice a její posun do sociologického myšlení. Začneme klasiky sociologie, což jsou Comte a Durkheim, kteří solidaritu považovaly za sjednocující silu ve společnosti a na konec se budeme věnovat práci J. Alexandra. Chceme ukázat, že koncept solidarity se měnil s rozvojem společnosti. V postmoderní době, hlavní z hodnot které je právo na odlišnost, klasický model solidarity je těžce udržitelný. Ve světě různorodosti zájmů, idejí, hodnot a cílu odlišných skupin, solidarita se stává jednou z nejtenčích témat k diskuze. Protikladné sociální sily jako globalizace z jedné strany a ochrana osobních zájmů z druhé, dělá z solidarity jednou z podstatných otázek pro demokratický stát. Je-li považování Evropských hodnot za univerzální na území Evropy správnou odpovědí? Vede-li nás multikulturalismus a uznání odlišnosti tou cestou, kterou si myslíme? Tato práce analyzuje tyto záležitosti a zase vrací nás k hlavní otázce sociologie „jak je společnost možná?“

Abstract:

This work is dedicated to the question of solidarity in the civil society. We would like to examine the historical presuppositions of emergence of the idea in the sphere of Christianity and politics and its shift to the sociology. Begin with classical ideas of Comte and Durkheim, who consider solidarity as a mean of unification in society and ending with ideas of J. Alexander, we want to show how this concept has changed with the development of society. In postmodern era, one of the main values of which is protection of right for difference, classical model of solidarity is hardly sustainable. In the word of diversity of interests, ideas, values and aims of opposed groups of people, solidarity is becoming one of the hardest issue to be discussed. Contradictory social forces as globalization on the one hand and protecting individual dispositions on the other make this concept being crucial for the democracy state. Is consideration of universal European values as one of the many existing on the territory of Europe a right answer? Does the idea of multiculturalism and recognition of difference bring our society the way we think? The work examines these issues and again brings us to the main question of sociology “how is the society possible?”
