Cerium oxide. Comparison of preparation routes and efficiency testing

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce je zaměřena na výrobu oxidu ceričitého rozdílnými způsoby. Pro posuzování jejich účinnosti byly prekurzory CeO2 vyrobeny precipitační (srážecí) metodou, metodou sol-gel (citrátovým způsobem) a metodou homogenní hydrolýzy, poté byly následně kalcinovány při různých teplotách v rozmezí 200°C - 800°C. Pro testování jejich účinnosti, tedy jejich sorpčních vlastností bylo využito experimentálního pokusu pro degradaci parathion-methylu. Největší účinnost byla zaznamenána u sorbentů CeO2 vyrobených precipitační metodou a kalcinovaných při teplotě 350°C a 500°C. Toto měření proběhlo pomocí HPLC. Sorbenty byly dále podrobeny externím měřením, skenovací elektronové mikroskopii, rentgenové difrakční analýze, infračervené spektroskopii a analýze měrného povrchu. Všechna tato měření byla provedena ve výzkumném ústavu anorganické chemie v Řeži.

Abstract:

This thesis is focused on the production of cerium oxide in different ways.The precursors CeO2 were produced by the precipitation (clotting) method, the sol-gel method (by citrate way) and the method of homogeneous hydrolysis and then subsequently calcined at various temperatures ranging from 200°C to 800°C for assessing the efficiency. For testing their efficiency, which means their sorption properties were used forthe experiment for the degradation of parathionmethyl. The greatest efficiency was observed with CeO2 sorbent produced by precipitation method and calcined at 350°C and 500°C. This measurement was carried out by HPLC. Sorbents were subjected to an external measurement, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy and specific surface area analysis. All the measurements were conducted at the Research Institute of Inorganic Chemistry in Řež.
