The Absurdity in german literature on example of work "Die Blechtrommel" from Günter Grass

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the topic of absurdity in Günter Grasse´s novel ?Blechtrommel? which is ranked among the most significant works of both German and world post-war literature. Work presented analyses the absurdity on the basis of knowledge on absurd theathre and within the frame of interpersonal relations between main characters, especially family members. Their mutual relations and behaviour, which were influented by both historical events as well as conditions of the society, end up as absurd and nonsensical. Main aim of this thesis is the definition of the most absurd character, Oskar Matzerath, drumming dwarf who is laughing at all society using his drum.

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá absurditou v románu Güntera Grasse ?Blechtrommel?, který patří k nejvýznamnějším dílům německé i světové poválečné literatury. V tomto díle je absurdita analyzována na základě teoretických poznatků o absurdním divadle v rámci mezilidských vztahů mezi hlavními hrdiny, převážně členy rodiny. Jejich vzájemné vztahy a chování, ke kterým je donutily jak historické události, tak sociální poměry společnosti, vyznívají absurdně a nesmyslně. Hlavním cílem této práce je určení nejabsurdnější postavy knihy, kterou se stává Oskar Matzerath, bubnující trpaslík, který se pomocí svého bubínku vysmívá celé společnosti.
