The quality of life of seniors at home and in institutional environment

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou stárnutí a stáří, postavením a zabezpečením seniorů v současné společnosti. Vzhledem ke skutečnosti, že osob v seniorském věku přibývá, je řešení kvality jejich života aktuálním a důležitým tématem v mnoha ohledech. Cílem této práce je zjistit, zdali vnímají kvalitu svého života jinak ostravští senioři v domácím a ústavním prostředí s ohledem na svůj věk, pohlaví, rodinný stav či dosažené vzdělání. K výzkumu byl použit standardizovaný dotazník WHOQOL-BREF, jenž vychází z plné verze dotazníku WHOQOL-100. Výzkumu se zúčastnilo celkem 116 respondentů, z toho 79 osob, žijících v domácím prostředí a 37 seniorů, kteří žijí v domově pro seniory. Zúčastnili se jej muži a ženy ve věku nad 60 let. Zjistila jsem, že respondenti v mém výzkumu nepociťují významný rozdíl ve vnímání kvality svého života s ohledem na pohlaví ani ve vztahu k typu bydlení. Významný vliv na jejich hodnocení nemělo ani dosažené vzdělání. Rozdíly ve vnímání kvality života byly patrné se zvyšujícím se věkem, senioři starší 75 let vyjádřili menší spokojenost než ti mladší. Lépe vnímali kvalitu svého života respondenti, kteří mají partnera.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the topic of aging and age, status and security of seniors in the current society. Due to the fact that the number of senior citizens is increasing, the solution to their quality of life is an important issue in many respects. The goal of this work is to find out whether there are some differences in the perception of the quality of live by seniors at home and at constitutional environment in terms of their age, gender, marital status or education. The questionnaire WHOQOL-BREF which is based on the full version of the questionnaire WHOQOL-100 was used for the study. The survey was attended by 116 respondents, of whom 79 were living in the home and 37 seniors living at retirement home. It was attended by men and women aged 60 and over. I found out that respondents in my research do not feel a significant difference in the perception of the quality of their lives with respect to gender or in relation to the type of housing. Significant influence on their assessment did not even have the achieved education. Differences in perceptions of quality of life were evident with increasing age, seniors over 75 years of age expressed less satisfaction than the younger. The respondents who have a partner feel better about their quality of life.
