Reflection on a strategy for reconciliation of work and private life in the context of participation in an ESF-funded project

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá studií reflexí strategií slaďování pracovního a soukromého života rodičů, kteří se zúčastnili projektu podpořeného Evropským sociálním fondem (ESF) zaměřeného na podporu slaďování. Teoretický rámec práce představuje slaďování ve světle současných sociologických výzkumů a možných strategií v českém prostředí. Práce dále mapuje vnější institucionální rámec ovlivňující strategie slaďování, jenž se skládá z nastavení rodičovského příspěvku, institutů mateřské a rodičovské „dovolené“, možností institucionální či alternativní péče o dítě stejně jako flexibilních možností trhu práce. Práce zasazuje problematiku slaďování také do rámce společensko-hodnotového systému skládajícího se ze společenských norem, individuálních hodnot a genderových vztahů v oblasti slaďování a péče o dítě. Cílem výzkumné kvalitativní práce je na základě analýzy polostrukturovaných hloubkových rozhovorů zjistit, jak zúčastnění reflektují svá rozhodování o strategii slaďování a jakou roli v daných strategiích hraje jak sledovaný projekt, tak také institucionální rámec možností, společensko-normativně-hodnotový systém a genderové vztahy. Dílčím cílem práce je pomocí obsahové analýzy nahlédnout, jak projekt pracuje s tématem genderové rovnosti v kontextu slaďování a jak je reflektován reálný dopad projektu na strategie slaďování jeho účastníků/nic. Práce ukazuje, jak se rodiče vyrovnávají se slaďováním víceméně v nastavených vzorcích a jak je pro nové možnosti strategií důležité zaměřit podobné projekty nejen na předepsanou rovinu pracovní sféry a zavádění podmínek pro umožňování slaďování, ale také na genderovou rovinu vztahů.

Abstract:

This master's thesis deals with the study of reflections on strategies of reconciliation of work and private life of parents who took part in the ESF-funded project oriented on support of the reconciliation. The theoretical frame of the thesis presents reconciliation in the light of recent sociological researches and possible strategies existing in the Czech background. The thesis also maps the external institutional framework that affects the reconciliation strategy and consists of adjusting the parental allowance, institutes of maternity and parental "leave", possibilities of institutional or alternative child care as well as flexible labor market. The thesis also places the issue of reconciliation in the framework of social-value system consisting of social standards, individual values and gender relations in the field of reconciliation and child care. The goal of the qualitative research study is to find out how the participants reflect on their decisions about strategies for reconciliation, considered on the basis of the analysis of semi-structured in-depth interviews, as well as to find out the roles of both the project and the institutional framework and social-normative-value system and gender relationships in these strategies. The partial goal of the thesis is to reveal, by means of the content analysis, how the project works with the theme of gender equality in the context of reconciliation and in what way the real impact of the project on the reconciliation strategies is reflected by its participants. This thesis shows in what way the parents cope with reconciliation in mostly given patterns, it also demonstrates that it is important to focus similar projects both on the predetermined work sphere with the implementation of conditions allowing reconciliation and the gender relations sphere.
