A Comparative Study of Value Orientations at Selected Groups of University Students

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá hodnotovou orientací vybraných skupin vysokoškolských studentů. V teoretické části práce je definován klíčový pojmový aparát (axiologie, hodnota, hodnocení, hodnotová orientace aj.), zmiňujeme též genezi axiologie. Dále pojednáváme o funkci hodnot a objasňujeme jejich význam jak z pohledu jedince, tak i v kontextu celospolečenského rozměru. Další podkapitoly práce jsou zaměřeny na popis klasifikací hodnot námi vybraných autorů, z nichž akcentujeme konstrukci hodnotových typů dle Eduarda Sprangera. Ta nám byla inspirací v praktické části naší diplomové práce. Dále je problematika hodnot a hodnotové orientace vztažena ke dvěma ontogenetickým stádiím, jimiž jsou pozdní adolescence a mladá dospělost; jejich stručná charakteristika je rovněž součástí této práce. V praktické části diplomové práce je popsána metodologie a výsledky výzkumu, jehož hlavním cílem bylo zjistit a analyzovat hodnoty a hodnotovou orientaci studentů vybraných fakult Univerzity J. E. Purkyně, konkrétně Pedagogické fakulty, Fakulty výrobních technologií a managementu a Fakulty užitého umění a designu. Získaná data z nestandardizovaného dotazníku byla komparována dle fakult. V závěru práce jsou shrnuty zjištěné poznatky a jejich přínos pro praxi.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with value orientation in university students. The theoretical part defines the key concepts, such as axiology, value, evaluation, value orientation, etc., and it also outlines the evolution of axiology as well as analyses and clarifies the functions of holding values both for the individual him/herself and for the society in general. The following chapters are focused on value classifications by selected authors with special emphasis on the work of Eduard Spranger, which has become the inspiration for the practical part. The issue of values and value orientation are shown in relation to two human development stages: adolescence (12 19 years of age) and young adulthood (20 - 39 years of age), whose concise characteristics are also included. The practical part describes research methods and analyses the results of the study with the main goal to detect and analyse the values and value orientation in students at selected faculties of Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem: Faculty of Education, Faculty of Production Technology and Management and Faculty of Art and Design. The data obtained from non-standardized questionnaire were examined and compared according to the faculties. The conclusion of the thesis summarizes the results and identifies their contribution to every-day practice.
