Use of fractal geometry for generating music

Anotácia:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá metodami algoritmického generování hudby, které využívají principy fraktální geometrie. V práci jsou popsány potřebné teoretické základy, týkající se jak fraktální geometrie, tak hudební teorie a algoritmické kompozice, a následně je popsán postup pro generování hudby s využitím každého ze čtyř typů fraktálů. Postup zahrnuje také výběr vhodného prostředí k implementaci. Nakonec jsou všechny metody porovnány a zhodnoceny.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with algorithmic composition methods that use the principles of fractal geometry. The thesis describes the necessary theoretical foundations concerning both fractal geometry and music theory together with the principles of algorithmic composition, and then describes the process of music generation using each of the four types of fractals. Part of the process is also selecting a suitable environment for implementation. At the end, all methods are compared and evaluated.
