Reduction Strategies for Container Nurseries without Using Herbicides

Abstract:

Pokus k diplomové práci proběhl v období od května do listopadu 2020 v nové kontejnerovně areálu Ústavu pro šlechtění a množení zahradnických rostlin. Náplní pokusu bylo zjištění vlivu různých typů mulčovacích materiálů na zaplevelení kontejnerových rostlin. Pokusnou rostlinou byly listnaté keře Ligustrum ovalifolium. Rostliny byly vysazeny do kontejnerů o objemu 2 litry. K rostlinám bylo aplikováno pět druhů mulče – mulč s drcenou dřevní hmotu Klasmann, mulč s drcenou dřevní hmotou Gramoflor, mulč s obsahem piniové kůry Gramoflor, slámové peletky a AW disky z kokosového vlákna. Průběžně bylo sledováno zaplevelení jednotlivých variant – množství plevelných rostlin a druhové složení. Pravidelně byla měřena výška rostlin. Sledován byl také stav mulče a jeho soudržnost při manipulaci. Ošetření rostlin zahrnovalo pravidelnou zálivku a odstranění plevelných rostlin. Při výsadbě bylo aplikováno hnojivo typu Osmocote s řízeným uvolňováním živin, proto následné přihnojování nebylo nutné. Při závěrečném vyhodnocení byly měřeny parametry jako výška rostlin, průměr kořenového krčku a počet výhonů prvního řádu. Následně byla zjištěna hmotnost částí rostlin (kořeny, výhony a listy) v čerstvém stavu a po vysušení. Zjištěné hodnoty byly statisticky vyhodnoceny. Výška rostlin byla u všech variant poměrně vyrovnaná. U jednotlivých variant byly výraznější rozdíly v zaplevelení.

Abstract:

The experiment for my diploma thesis was carried out a six-month period from May to November 2020 in a new container-growing section of Institute of Plant Breeding and Multiplication. The content of experiment was to identify the influence of various types of mulch materials on weed infestation of container plants. The experimental plant was a deciduous shrub Ligustrum ovalifolium. The plants were planted into 2 litre containers. Five types of mulches were applied to plants – Klasmann mulch with crushed wood, Gramoflor mulch with pinia bark, straw pellets and AW disks made from coconut fibre. Weed infestations of each variety were continuously observed, as well as the amount of weed plants and their generic types. The tallness of plants were regularly measured. The mulch quality and its compactness during manipulation were also observed and recorded. The plant-care included regular watering and weeding. In the course of planting there was used Osmocote fertilizer with regulated nutrients release and thus there was any reason for next fertilizing. Within final evaluation such parameters as tallness of plants, diameter of roof neck and the number of first-order shoots were measured. Subsequently there were made detailed records of the weight of plant parts – roofs, shoots and leaves – in the fresh and after drying condition. Identified results were evaluated in final statistics. The tallness was comparatively balanced with all variants, but significant differences were discovered in weed infestation.
