Charterhouse in Královo Pole: Gothik phase of building construction

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá stavebně-historickým vývojem bývalého kartuziánského kláštera v Králově Poli u Brna (dnešní fakulta informatiky VUT), zejména jeho gotickou stavební fází. Práce se zaměřuje na prostorový koncept kartuziánského konventu a umělecké tvarosloví architektonických prvků. Detailněji se pak zabývá zmizelými architektonickými prvky, konkrétně letnerem, možnou chodbou obíhající kostel, točitým schodištěm vedoucím do prostoru nad jižní boční kaplí a prostorem, do kterého toto schodiště vedlo. V textu jsou rozvedeny hypotézy týkající se možných funkcí těchto prvků v gotické době.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with structural and historical development of the former Carthusian monastery in Královo Pole near Brno (current Faculty of Information Technology) with the emphasis on the gothic building phase. It describes the spatial concept of the Carthusian convent and its artistic architectonic elements. In more detail the thesis also deals with lost features, such as the rood screen, the supposed hallway surrounding the church, the space above the church’s southern chapel and spiral staircase leading into it. The thesis also contains hypotheses of possible purpose of these elements.
