Abstract:

Diplomová práce zkoumá současnou podobu přístupu ke smrti a pohřbívání v České republice. Skrze reflexi historicko-kulturního hledání ideální smrti, proměny pohřebních rituálů a návštěvy hřbitovů na našem území, ukazuje na současný nedostatek tradic a neochotu otevírání tématu smrti jak ve veřejném prostoru, tak hlavně mezi blízkými. Tato práce se snaží najít možné faktory ovlivňující současný neutěšený stav, který vyústil k vysokým číslům kremací bez obřadu, a jaké možnosti rehabilitace oboru pohřebnictví a přístupu ke smrti, se zaměřením na komemorativní umění, dnes máme.

Abstract:

This thesis examines population's current relationship with death and burial in the Czech Republic. The revision of the historical-cultural search for an ideal death, transformation of funeral rituals and grave visits in our territory, points to the prevailing lack of traditions and reluctance to openly discuss the topic of death in both public and private space, especially among loved ones. The thesis aims to explore some of the possible factors that contribute to the current dismal state, which resulted in high numbers of unceremonious cremations, and what are the possibilities for a reintroduction of funerary customs and the traditional approach to death with focus on commemorative art.
