Odběrová analýza je dnes považována za jeden z nejúčinnějších útoků proti čipovým kartám. Využívá se při ní skutečnosti, že spotřeba energie zařízení je závislá na výpočetní složitosti právě vykonávané instrukce a na datech, která tato instrukce zpracovává. Power analysis is now considered to be one of the most effective attacks on smart cards. It uses the fact, that the power consumption of device is dependent on the computational complexity of the instruction just being performed and data, which this instruction is being processing.
