Czech dukes' enthronement and enthronement rituals as described on the pages of Cosmas' chronicle

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá intronizací a intronizačními rituály českých knížat. Vychází především z Kosmovy kroniky Čechů a zachycuje vznik a vývoj těchto rituálu od mytických počátku až do poloviny 12. století, tak jak je chápal kronikář Kosmas. Přičemž klade důraz na pochopení přemyslovského mýtu, rovněž i ústavních pořádků přemyslovských Čech a snaží se popsat všechny intronizační rituály, kterými musela projít česká knížata při nastolování na knížecí stolec. Závěrem popisuje, jak obec Čechu tyto rituály přijímala a chápala

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with enthronement and enthronement rituals of Czech dukes. The thesis draws especially on Czech Cosmas chronicle and captures origin and development of these rituals since their mythical beginnings until the half of the 12 th century, in the perspective they were understood by chronicler Cosmas. Thesis emphasises the understanding of Premyslid myth and constitutional rules of Czech lands in Premyslid era and intends to describe all of enthronement rituals, which the Czech dukes had to pass through in the process of claiming the royal throne. Finally the thesis describes how these rituals were perceived and accepted by the Bohemian population.
