Rewards and punishments in education of elementary school pupils

Abstract:

Práce pojednává o problematice odměn a trestů z pohledu žáků. Je rozdělena na dvě části, a to teoretickou a výzkumnou část. Teoretická část se zabývá obecně tématem školy, kázně, autority učitele a klimatem třídy. Jsou zde definovány odměny a tresty, vysvětleny hlavní pojmy týkající se dané problematiky, funkce těchto výchovných prostředků, jejich druhy, zásady a rizika jejich užívání. Ve výzkumné části mapujeme četnost užívání různých odměn a trestů a postoj žáků k nim. Sběr dat probíhal se studenty osmých a devátých ročníků základních škol. K získání dat je použit dotazník vlastní konstrukce. Výsledky jsou interpretovány pomocí deskriptivní statistiky.

Abstract:

This thesis addresses the issue of rewards and punishments from the point of view of students. It's divided into theoretical part and a research part. The theoretical part deals with discipline in school, authority of the teacher, and the class dynamic. It defines the concept of rewards and punishments, explains the main concepts of this problematic, function of disciplinary means, their categorization, and the principles and risks of their usage. The research then deals with the frequency of use of the punishments and rewards, and the response of the students. The analysed data was collected directly from students enrolled in eight and nineth class of elementary schools via a custom questionnaire. The results were interpreted using descriptive statistics.
