Genetic aspects of hydrothermal processes in the Silesian and Subsilesian units of the Outer Western Carpathians

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem předkládané disertační práce bylo komplexně popsat vývoj hydrotermálních fluid ve slezské a podslezské jednotce Vnějších Západních Karpat. Minerální asociace byly studovány za použití těchto metod: mikrotermometrie a analýza výluhů fluidních inkluzí, studium stabilních izotopů (O, C, H a S) a stopových prvků v hydrotermální fázi, analýza minerálů na elektronové mikrosondě, polarizační mikroskopie, katodová a UV-fluorescence. Studované projevy hydrotermální mineralizace se váží ve slezské jednotce zejména na magmatické horniny těšínitové asociace asociované s jílovci těšínsko-hradišťského souvrství a v podslezské jednoce byl jejich výskyt zjištěn zejména ve vápnitých jílovcích frýdeckého a frýdlantského souvrství. Hydrotermální mineralizace byla na základě jejich vzniku rozdělena do jednotlivých genetických typů (postmagmatická, diagenetická, syntektonická, posttektonická). Postmagmatický typ hydrotermální mineralizace byl zjištěn ve všech druzích magmatických hornin těšínitové asociace (těšínit, pikrit, monchiquit) ve dvou základních morfologických typech: 1) výplň miarol a mandlí a 2) výplň žil. Miaroly zjištěné v těšínitech jsou vyplněny zejména analcimem, v menší míře i kalcitem. Na minerální výplni mandlí a žil v efuzivních typech magmatických hornin (monchiquit-pikritová skupina) se podílí karbonáty (zejména kalcit, místy také dolomit, siderit, magnezit), chlority (delessit až pennin), sulfidy (pyrit, markazit, vzácně také sfalerit, millerit a molybdenit), glaukonit, křemen, chalcedon a/ nebo opál. Syntektonická mineralizace s. s. je v magmatitech reprezentována jako pravidelné subhorizontálně uložené tenzní žíly, jejichž orientace odpovídá směru maximální tektonické komprese (SSZ-JJV). Tyto žíly, klasifikované jako kompozičně složené unitaxiálně syntaxiální a jednoduše unitaxiálně syntaxiální typ vláknitých žil, jsou vyplněny zejména vláknitým kalcitem, méně chloritem (pennin), křemenem a pyritem. Syntektonická hydrotermální mineralizace vyplňující pukliny v sedimentech je zastoupena pouze kalcitem. Posttektonické hydrotermální žíly byly zjištěny v sedimentech i magmatitech. Tento systém je zastoupen pravidelnými subvertikálně uloženými (sklon 70 až 90°) extenzními žílami, které mají směr ZSZ-VJV, ZJZ-VSV a nevykazují genetickou vazbu ke strukturním prvkům horninového prostředí. Diagenetické hydrotermální žilky v obou tektonických jednotkách kopírují průběh struktur duktilních deformací. V minerální výplni je zastoupen kalcit, ojediněle i kaolinit. Zmíněné interpretace vývoje fluid jsou pro hydrotermální asociace zjištěné v magmatitech těšínitové asociace slezské jednotky i ve flyšových sedimentech srovnatelné, což ukazuje na obdobný zdroj hydrotermálních roztoků v obou horninových prostředích. Existující data navíc naznačují kontinuální vývoj fluidního systému ve Vnějších Západních Karpatech na území České republiky a to od sedimentace a postmagmatické alterace související s intruzí magmatitů do nezpevněných sedimentů, přes diagenezi a deformaci hornin během alpínské orogeneze až po post-orogenní tektoniku.

Abstract:

Goal of this dissertation was to locate, characterize and describe the origins of the hydrothermal mineralization in the Silesian and Subsilesian Units of the Czech part of the Outer Western Carpathian´s Flysch Belt. The mineral associations were studied by following methods: microthermometry and crush-leach analysis of fluid inclusions, the stable isotopes (O, C, H and S) and trace elements in hydrothermal phases, electron microprobe analyse of minerals, polarising microscopy, cathodoluminiscence and UV-fluorescence. The studied hydrothermal mineralization is linked in the Silesian Unit mainly with magmatic rocks of teschenite aasociation, less with both claystones and sandstones of the Těšín-Hradiště Fm. and Lhota Fm. In the Subsilesian Unit, the hydrothermal mineralisation is hosted by calcareous claystones of the Frýdek Fm. and Frýdlant Fm. The hydrothermal mineralizations were distinguished on basis of their origin into different genetic types (postmagmatic, diagenetic, syntectonic, posttectonic. The postmagmatic type of hydrothermal mineralization is widespread in all types of magmatic rocks (teschenite, picrite, monchiquite) and forms two morphological types: 1) miarole and amygdule fill and 2) veins. Miarole are hosted by teschenite and are typically composed of analcime, sporadically calcite. Amygdules and veins are hosted by effusive type of igneous rock (monchiquite-picrite group) and are composed of carbonates (mainly calcite, locally also dolomite, siderite, magnesite), trioctahedral chlorite (delessite, pennine), sulphides (pyrite, marcasite, rarely sphalerite, millerite and molybdenite), glauconite, quartz, chalcedony and/or opal. Syntectonic mineralization s. s. hosted by magmatic rocks is represented as a regularly subhorizontal tension veins. Their orientation corresponds to the direction of maximum tectonic compression (NNW-SSE). These veins are classified as composite unitaxial and simple unitaxial type of fibrous veins and are filled up by fibrous calcite, minor also by chlorite (pennine), quartz and pyrite.. The hydrothermal assemblage of this genetic type filling joints in sedimentary rocks is very simple, composed of calcite. Posttectonic hydrothermal veins were found in both magmatic and sedimentary rocks. This mineralization is formed by subvertikal (dip 70 – 90°) and undeformed extensional WNW-ESE, WSW-ENE trending hydrothermal veins without genetic relationship to surrounding rocks. Diagenetic hydrothermal veins follow the course of ductile deformation structures in both tectonic units. Veins are composed of calcite, sporadically kaolinite. The described interpretations of fluid origin are comparable to the results obtained from hydrothermal mineralization hosted by teschenite rocks series in Silesian Unit as well as those hosted by flysch sediments implying similar sources of hydrothermal solutions in both environments. The existing data moreover suggest a continuous evolution of the fluid system in the Outer Western Carpathians in the Czech Republic from sedimentation and post-magmatic aleration of associated teschenite intrusions through diagenesis, rock deformation during Alpine Orogeny, up to the post-orogenic faulting.
