The Effectivity of Educating the Elderly in Relation to Fraud Sales Practices This dissertation focuses on creating the educational programmes for the elderly while respecting the principles of geragogics and gerontopsychology. The aim of the thesis is to create an educational programme that will effectively school the seniors against the manipulative sales and other deceitful strategies. The thesis also aims to implement such programme and verify its effectivity. In case the programme proves to be effective, the author will aim to submit it to The Manual of Good Practice of the Ministry of the Interior, and therefore to provide access to it to the people interested in the topic. There had been chosen a method of quasiexperiment on a research group n= 260 seniors from Kralovehradecky region (130 in an experimental group, 130 in a control group).

Abstract:

Disertační práce se zabývá tvorbou vzdělávacích programů pro seniory, které by respektovaly zásady geragogiky a gerontopsychologie. Cílem práce je vytvořit vzdělávací program, jenž bude efektivně školit seniory proti manipulačním prodejním a jiným podvodným strategiím. Dalším cílem je tento program zrealizovat a ověřit jeho účinnost. V případě, že by byl shledán efektivním, zařadit jej do Příručky dobré praxe Ministerstva vnitra ČR, a tak zajistit jeho přístupnost případným zájemcům. Jako metoda ověřování účinnosti programu byl zvolen kvaziexperiment na výzkumném souboru n = 260 seniorů z Královéhradeckého kraje (130 v experimentální, 130 v kontrolní skupině). Výsledky výzkumu jsou následující: vzdělávací program byl vytvořen a zrealizován. Nese název Nedáme se, byl odehrán ve 41 městech České republiky a zúčastnilo se jej přes 1000 seniorů. Proběhlo experimentální ověření účinnosti programu, které přineslo důležitou informaci o tom, že neexistuje signifikantní rozdíl mezi kontrolní a experimentální skupinou, pokud jde o automatické otevírání vstupních dveří bez předchozího zjištění, kdo stojí za dveřmi (na základě této skutečnosti byl program Nedáme se v dílčích aspektech upraven). Dále se ovšem experimentálně potvrdilo, že senioři vyškolení programem Nedáme se jsou 2,2 obezřetnější při kontaktu s neznámými lidmi za dveřmi jejich bytu a současně jsou 2,3 aktivnější v jejich důrazném odmítnutí. Projekt Nedáme se byl shledán účinným a byl zařazen do Příručky dobré praxe Ministerstva vnitra ČR.

Abstract:

This dissertation focuses on creating the educational programmes for the elderly while respecting the principles of geragogics and gerontopsychology. The aim of the thesis is to create an educational programme that will effectively school the seniors against the manipulative sales and other deceitful strategies. The thesis also aims to implement such programme and verify its effectivity. In case the programme proves to be effective, the author will aim to submit it to The Manual of Good Practice of the Ministry of the Interior, and therefore to provide access to it to the people interested in the topic. There had been chosen a method of quasiexperiment on a research group n= 260 seniors from Kralovehradecky region (130 in an experimental group, 130 in a control group). The research results are as follows: There has been created and implemented the educational programme. It carries the name Nedáme se (We Don't Swallow the Bait), it was performed in 41 towns and cities in the Czech Republic, and it had been seen by more than 1000 elderly. An experimental verification of the effectivity of the programme resulted in an important information: It does not exist any significant difference between the control group and the experimental one in the category of the opening the front door automatically without the former detection, who really is behind it (on this account a partial adjustment of the programme Nedáme se has been made). Further, it has been experimentally proved that the seniors schooled by the programme Nedáme se are by 2,2 percent more cautious against the contact with unknown people behind the door, and are also by 2,3 percent more active to decisively refuse them. Nedáme se project was found useful and has been submitted to The Manual of Good Practice of the Ministry of the Interior.
