Outcomes of simulation learning in nursing students

Abstract:

Cílem přehledové bakalářské práce bylo vyhledat a sumarizovat aktuální publikované poznatky o výsledcích simulačního učení u studentů ošetřovatelství. Studie byly vyhledány systematickou rešeršní strategií za užití elektronických databází EBSCO, PubMed, CINAHL a Medvik pomocí předdefinovaných kritérií. Extrakce, analýza a syntéza dat proběhla s ohledem na stanovené výzkumné otázky. Práce se zaměřuje na přínosy simulačního učení pro rozvoj klinických dovedností, kritického myšlení a rozhodovacích schopností studentů, stejně jako na jeho vliv na jejich sebevědomí a připravenost k praxi. Výsledky ukazují, že simulační vzdělávání přispívá k lepší schopnosti aplikovat teoretické znalosti v praxi a snižuje úzkost z reálných klinických situací. Zároveň však identifikuje určité limity, jako je potřeba kvalitních instruktorů, technického zázemí a odpovídajícího času na reflexi. Závěry této práce mohou být využity při plánování a implementaci simulačních metod ve výuce a mohou sloužit jako základ pro další výzkum efektivity tohoto přístupu.

Abstract:

The aim of this review bachelor's thesis was to search for and summarize current published findings on the outcomes of simulation-based learning in nursing students. The studies were identified using a systematic search strategy in the electronic databases EBSCO, PubMed, CINAHL, and Medvik based on predefined criteria. Data extraction, analysis, and synthesis were conducted with respect to the established research questions. The thesis focuses on the benefits of simulation-based learning for the development of students' clinical skills, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities, as well as its impact on their confidence and preparedness for practice. The results indicate that simulation-based education enhances students' ability to apply theoretical knowledge in practice and reduces anxiety in real clinical situations. However, certain limitations were identified, such as the need for qualified instructors, adequate technical resources, and sufficient time for reflection. The findings of this study may be useful for planning and implementing simulation-based teaching methods and serve as a foundation for further research on the effectiveness of this approach
