Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá tématem překladu populárně naučné literatury pro děti. Tento žánr má své charakteristické prvky, od čehož se odvíjí i požadavky na překlad tohoto žánru. Cílem této práce je poukázat na zvláštnosti a možné problémy překladu dětské populárně naučné literatury a zároveň poskytnout praktickou ukázku překladu dětské populárně naučné knihy You Are the Earth od kanadského autora Davida Suzukiho. Bakalářská práce se skládá ze tří částí. V teoretické části jsou uvedeny základní pojmy a otázky teorie překladu; dále je charakterizován žánr populárně naučné literatury pro děti a také jsou probrány jeho aspekty významné z pohledu překladatele. V poslední řadě teoretická část představuje knihu You Are the Earth a jejího autora. Druhá část této práce obsahuje překladatelský korpus, kde jsou porovnány vybrané ukázky anglické verze knihy You Are the Earth s jejich českým překladem, zhotoveným autorkou této práce. V následné praktické části je překlad analyzován, přičemž pozornost je věnována jevům, které byly z pohledu překladu zajímavé nebo problematické a které byly vybrány převážně s ohledem na povahu populárně naučného žánru pro děti. Analýza zahrnuje vlastní komentář k užitým překladatelským řešením a jejich zdůvodnění, a zároveň odkazuje na příslušné teoretické zdroje.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of translation of non-fiction literature for children. This genre has its characteristic features, which determines also the demands on its translation. The aim of this work is to point out specifics and possible problems of translating children's non-fiction, and to provide a practical demonstration of the translation of a children's non-fiction book You Are the Earth by a Canadian author David Suzuki. The bachelor thesis consists of three parts. The theoretical part presents the basic concepts of translation theory; next, the genre of children's non-fiction is characterized, and its aspects important from the translator's point of view are discussed. Finally, the theoretical part introduces the book You Are the Earth and its author. The second part of this work includes a translation corpus, where selected parts of the English version of the book You Are the Earth are compared with the Czech translation, provided by the author of this thesis. In the following practical part, the translation is analysed with the focus on phenomena which were interesting or problematic for translation, and which were chosen mostly with regard to the character of children's non-fiction genre. The analysis provides commentary on and justifications for the used translation solutions, and is supported by references to the relevant theoretical sources.
