Effects of newly synthesized compounds on the activity of intestinal microbial communities

Anotace:

The master’s thesis aims to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration of newly synthesized substances and their effect, either inhibitory or stimulating, on the physiological properties of selected bacterial genera. A minimum inhibitory concentration is the lowest concentration at which an antimicrobial agent inhibits the visible growth of a bacterial culture. The Proteobacteria phylum, more specifically family Enterobacteriacea, has been proven to be a major cause of inflammation in the human microbiome, therefore the antimicrobial compounds in this thesis are used against two representatives of this family – Escherichia coli CCM 3954 and Salmonella typhimurium LT 2-18. Additionally, the thesis has the goal of proposing the possible use of the antimicrobial agents displaying good results in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease – a chronic condition, the prevalence of which has increased at an alarming rate during the past century.
