Financial markets during financial crisis

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with financial markets, mainly the Slovak stock market. The aim of this thesis is to show the history development of this market by Slovak share index SAX and indicate its possible future. The thesis is divided into three chapters. The first chapter is characterized by the fundamental concepts of the financial system, financial market and its divisions, and financial market participants who make it possible to define the concept of factoring. The second chapter starts with the definition and divisions of shares- the most used financial instrument, in this part are mentioned the instruments of financial markets too. The issue of shares with the placing on market and the concept of exchange with its functions are explained here as well. The third part contains basic information and history of Bratislava Stock Exchange, Inc. and the concept of Slovak Share Index – SAX, together with a formula for its calculation. The analysis of SAX during the last fifteen years, and a more a detailed analysis of the last three years is done at the end of this part. The conclusion summarizes the knowledge and possible progress in the future.

Abstract:

Bakalárska práca sa zaoberá problematikou finančných trhov, konkrétne slovenským akciovým trhom. Cieľom bakalárskej práce je zobraziť doterajší vývoj tohto trhu pomocou slovenského akciového indexu SAX a načrtnúť jeho možnú budúcnosť. Práca je rozdelená na tri kapitoly. V prvej kapitole sú charakterizované základné pojmy ako je finančný systém, finančný trh a jeho členenia, účastníci finančných trhov, vďaka ktorým je zadefinovaný aj pojem finančné sprostredkovanie. Druhá kapitola prechádza do definície a členení najobchodovateľnejšieho finančného nástroja – akcie, ale sú v nej spomenuté aj ostatné finančné nástroje. V tejto kapitole je tiež vysvetlená emisia akcií s umiestnením na trhu a tiež pojem burza a jej funkcie. V tretej časti sú základné údaje a história Burzy cenných papierov v Bratislave, a.s. a tiež je zadefinovaný pojem slovenského akciového indexu – SAX spolu so vzorcom na jeho výpočet. Na konci tejto časti je vykonaná analýza SAXu v období patnástich rokov, a detailnejšia analýza za posledné tri roky. V závere sú zhrnuté poznatky a možný vývoj do budúcnosti.
