Anotace:

Tato práce analyzuje, jak Alice Oseman reprezentuje komplikované kulturní představy o Jane Austenové jako kanonické autorce, feministce a spisovatelce ženských románů ve své knize Solitaire za pomoci citátů, narážek a dialogů postav. V práci se román Osemanové interpretuje jako volná adaptace románu Jany Austenové Pýcha a předsudek co se týče jeho klíčových témat a některých detailů příběhu. Specifická pozornost je věnována tomu, jak se román staví k genderu a jeho vyobrazení Jany Austenové jako kulturní postavy důležité ve formaci moderního konceptu mladého ženství.

Abstract:

The thesis analyses how Alice Oseman represents a layered cultural image of Jane Austen as a canonical author, feminist and writer of feminine romance in their contemporary teen romance novel Solitaire through quotation, allusions and character dialogues. The thesis interprets Oseman’s novel as a loose adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice in regard to its core narrative themes and some of its plot points. Special attention is paid to the novel’s treatment of gender divisions and its portrayal of Jane Austen as a cultural figure significant in the construction of modern girlhood.
