Modeling of structural defects in fluorographene

Abstract:

Fluorographene is a new 2D material, which has thanks to its properties a huge range of applications. From this reasons in the past years it has become an interesting material for many theoretical and experimental studies. In our thesis we focus on structural defects of FG. We choose five of them (C vacancy, F vacancy, FO2 vacancy,FM2 vacancy a FP2 vacancy . For our calculations of their relaxed structures, total energies and BDE we use the DFT BDE method. We examined these defects in three different magnetic states and in different supercells sizes (2x2, 3x3 and 4x4). We found that with decreasing concentration of defect (in our interval) the stability of these defects is also decreasing. We also found, that lower concentration of defects cause the BDE to increase. The most stable defect was FO2 in the cell size 2x2 with BDE=-4,00 eV/cell. The highest value of BDE was found for supercell 3x3 with the C vacancy (BDE=-11.54 eV/cell). Both of these defects were in a nonmganetic state.

Abstract:

Flourografen je nový 2D materiál, který má díky svým vlastnostem široký potenciál využití v mnohých odvětvích, a proto je v poslední době podroben jak teoretickým tak praktickým výzkumům. V naší práci jsme se zaměřili na strukturální defekty tohoto materiálu. Vybrali jsme si pět z nich (C vakanci, F vakanci, FO2 vakanci,FM2 vakanci a FP2vakanci). K výpočtům jejich relaxací a následnému výpočtu jejich celkové energie a BDE jsme použili metodu DFT PBE. Tyto defekty jsme zkoumali ve třech magnetických stavech a v superbuňkách o třech velikostech (2x2, 3x3 a 4x4), a zjistili jsme, že se snižující se koncentrací defektů (ve zkoumaném intervale) se nám stabilita defektů snižuje. Dále jsme zjistili, že nižší koncentrace má za následek zvýšení BDE. Jako nejtabilnější defekt jsme zaznamenali FO2 vakanci ve veliksoti 2x2, jejiž BDE=-4,00 eV/buňku. Nejvyšší hodnoty BDE měl fluorografen s C vakanci (BDE=-11,54 eV/buňku) o velikostí buňky 3x3. Obě tyto struktury se nacházely v nemagnetickém stavu.
