Carrying out a detailed phytopathological survey and proposals for improving the condition of woody plants on the land of the Central Cemetery in Brno

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na detailní průzkum 1 018 dřevin na 20 ha východní části Ústředního hřbitova v Brně zaměřující se na přítomnost chorob, škůdců a četnost habituálních a růstových defektů jako jsou asymetrický růst či defektní větvení. Mimo jiné bylo cílem práce vytvoření několika doporučení pro budoucí péči o dřeviny rostoucí na hřbitovech. Pro samotné hodnocení byla vytvořena vlastní metodika čítající 14 kritérií. Mezi prosincem 2019 a prosincem 2020 bylo provedeno celkem 25 terénních průzkumů. Ze získaných výsledků bylo zjištěno, že největším problémem dřevin na hřbitově je zvýšený terén v kořenové zóně, a to až v 82 % případů. Dále je to asymetrický růst spojený se zvýšeným těžištěm koruny ve více než třetině případů. Naopak bylo zjištěno, že defektní větvení se vyskytuje pouze u 21 % dřevin.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis focuses on a detailed survey of 1,018 tree species on 20 ha of the eastern part of the Central Cemetery in Brno focusing on the presence of diseases, pests and the frequency of habitual and growth defects such as asymmetric growth or defective branching. Among other things, the aim of the work was to create several recommendations for the future care of woody plants growing in cemeteries. For the evaluation itself, a methodology of 14 criteria was created. Between December 2019 and December 2020, a total of 25 field surveys were conducted. From the obtained results it was found that the biggest problem of woody plants in the cemetery is the increased terrain in the root zone, in up to 82 % of cases. Furthermore, it is an asymmetric growth associated with an increased center of gravity of the crown in more than a third of cases. On the contrary, it was found that defective branching occurs in only 21 % of tree species.
