Propaganda and the young reader from 1950 to 1955

Abstract:

Cílem práce je analýza propagandy v první polovině 50. let 20. století. Zaměřuje se na specifika propagandy cílené na dětského čtenáře a na základě ukázek z dětských časopisů Mateřídouška a Ohníček popisuje způsoby, jakými propaganda pracovala v letech 1950-1955 s dětmi v nejrůznějších oblastech. Jedná se především o propagaci výročí osobností a událostí, komunistické strany, Sovětského svazu. Dále se zabýváme mládežnickou činností - mírové hnutí, pionýrská činnost - a také prezentací bezpečnostních složek a hospodářství státu.

Abstract:

This thesis aims to analyse the communist propaganda in the first half of the 1950s. It deals with the specifics of propaganda targeted on the young readership and describes the ways propaganda worked with children in the 1950s in various areas, based on examples from children's magazines (Mateřídouška, Ohníček). It looks into the promotion of the anniversary of leading figures and events, the Communist Party and the Soviet Union. Futhermore, it deals with a few different youth activities – the peace movement and the Pionýr oraganisation – and also with the presentation of the police and army forces, and state economy.
