The conception of death in Huis clos by Sartre and in Le Roi se meurt by Ionesco

Abstract:

The contents of this work is an analysis of two theatre plays: Huis clos by J. P. Sartre and Le Roi se meurt by E. Ionesco. The plays focus on an inevitability of the death and the way a man deals with it. Between these two works there are analogies in the concept of death regardless to the differences given by different literary movements to which the authors had belonged (Sartre is understood as a key protagonist of literary existentialim while Ionesco is treated as a leading author of absurd theatre). The sense of death is formed by every man by his (her) own behaviour and deeds for which people can freely decide and for which people are fully responsible.

Abstract:

Obsahem práce je rozbor dvou divadelních her: Huis clos od J. P. Sartra a Le Roi se meurt od E. Ionesca. Jejich tématem je nevyhnutelnost smrti a způsob, jakým ji člověk přijímá. Mezi těmito dvěma díly existují, navzdory rozdílům, které jsou dány příslušností těchto dvou autorů k odlišným literárním směrům (Sartre je hlavním představitelem literárního existencialismu, zatímco Ionesca řadíme k autorům absurdního divadla), analogie v pojetí smrti. Smysl smrti, si každý z nás vytváří sám svým jednaním, svými činy, pro které se můžeme svobodně rozhodnout a neseme za ně také plnou zodpovědnost.
