The development of professional skills of children living in institutional care within the context of their preparation for independent life

Abstract:

Předkládaná disertační práce se zabývá tématem rozvoje pracovních kompetencí u dětí a mladistvých ve výchovných ústavech, a to v kontextu jejich přípravy na vstup do samostatného života. Tato fáze edukačně-terapeutického procesu není zatím dostatečně zmapována, a proto by jí měla být věnována pozornost, jak z pohledu výzkumu, tak z pohledu metodických opor s přesahem do praxe pedagogických pracovníků. V teoretické části disertační práce jsme usilovali o komplexní analýzu problematiky dětí a mladých dospělých umístěných v zařízeních institucionální výchovy, z pohledu různých vědních disciplín(zejména z oblasti pedagogiky, především speciální pedagogiky – etopedie a sociální pedagogiky; psychologie, zejména psychologie osobnosti, vývojové a sociální psychologie a psychoterapie; sociální práce a sociologie). Teoretická část je diferencována do čtyř tematicky zaměřených kapitol, které vycházejí z českých a zahraničních pramenů. Mapujeme možnosti implementace teorií rozvoje kompetencí při podpoře dětí (dětí v riziku, s problémy, poruchami chování) v prostředí institucionální výchovy a možnosti posilování pozitivních vlivů v prostředí středoškolského vzdělávání v rámci zařízení ústavní a ochranné výchovy. V empirické části disertační práce jsme hledali styčné body mezi nabídkou vzdělávání a možnostmi rozvoje klíčových kompetencí pro profesní uplatnění v rámci institucionální výchovy a mezi požadavky praxe (zaměstnavatelů na trhu práce). Provedli jsme deskriptivní analýzu rámcových podmínek sekundárního školství v prostředí institucionální výchovy a podmínky pro přípravu na samostatný život v prostředí institucionální výchovy. Zajímala nás realizace přípravy na vstup do samostatného života, zejména v oblastech rozvoje klíčových pracovních kompetencí dospívajících a rozsah rozvíjených a deficitních kompetencí z pohledu pedagogických pracovníků v zařízeních. Zmapovali jsme postoje pedagogických pracovníků k rozvoji pracovních kompetencí a vnímání důležitosti těchto klíčových kompetencí pro vstup na trh práce. V rámci výzkumu byla identifikována tato stěžejní témata: deficitní a funkční pracovní kompetence, úskalí zacílení jejich intervence a nízká efektivita necílené intervence. Dále byly popsány fáze, principy a opory procesu intervence pracovních kompetencí. Pojmenovali jsme i bariéry v rozvoji pracovních kompetencí, které vyplývají nejen z dispozic umístěných dětí, tak i z možností zařízení nebo politicko-společenských podmínek. Navrhli jsme doporučení pro speciálně pedagogickou praxi i pro další zkoumání.

Abstract:

The present thesis deals with the development of professional competencies of children and adolescents in institutional care in the context of preparation for living their lives independently. This phase of the educationally-therapeutic process has not been sufficiently mapped yet and therefore should be addressed both in terms of research and legislative and methodological support extending into the practice of pedagogical workers. The theoretical part of the thesis presents a comprehensive theoretical and empirical analysis of children and young adults placed in residential care facilities from the perspective of multiple disciplines (especially in the field of pedagogy, particularly special education- special education of children with behavioural disorders and social pedagogy, psychology, particularly the personality psychology, developmental and social psychology and psychotherapy, social work and sociology). It is divided into four thematic chapters based on both Czech and foreign sources. It maps possible implementations of theories of competence development in order to support children in residential care (children at risk, children with behavior problems, children with behavioral disorders) and the possibilities of strengthening the positive impacts in the environment of secondary education in residential care. The empirical part of the thesis looks for points of contact between the offer of education, opportunities (offered in residential care) to develop key competencies for gaining career opportunities, and practical demands of employers in the labor market. It involves a descriptive analysis of the framework conditions of secondary education in the environment of residential care and conditions of the preparation for living an independent life in the environment of residential care. Further focus was on how the preparation to enter an independent life worked in practice, especially in the areas of development of the key professional competencies of adolescents and the range of the competencies developed from the point of view of pedagogical workers in the facilities. The attitudes of pedagogical workers towards developing professional competencies and their awareness of the importance of these key competencies to enter the labor market were mapped. The research identified the following key topics: deficit and functional professional competencies, pitfalls in targeting related interventions, and a low efficiency of untargeted interventions. It also described the phases, principles, and supportive elements of the process of professional competencies intervention. Barriers in the development of professional competencies were named, resulting not only from the possibilities of children in residential care facilities, but also from the possibilities of the facilities, political or social conditions. Recommendations for special education practices and further research were proposed.
