Abstract:

Tato práce zkoumá motivace a cíle tvůrců datových vizualizací, kteří tvoří intervence ve veřejném prostoru. Nejprve jsou popsány aspekty datové vizualizace jako nástroje intervence, aspekty veřejného prostoru a průnik těchto dvou oblastí. Skrze analýzu perspektiv pěti tvůrců takových intervencí práce odhaluje jak jejich společné motivace, tak individuální motivační elementy v jejich tvůrčích procesech. Přestože se jedná o téma, které není v akademických kruzích často diskutováno, tato práce osvětluje potenciál datové vizualizace ve veřejném prostoru přinášet společenskou změnu, podporovat inovace v oblasti komunikace komplexních dat a zkrášlovat veřejný prostor.

Abstract:

This thesis explores the motivations and aims of data visualization creators who make interventions in public spaces. Firstly, it outlines the problematics of dataviz as a tool of intervention, the aspects of public spaces and the intersection of those two fields. By analysing the perspectives of five creators, the research reveals common elements of their motivations but also identifies independent drives in their creative processes. Despite being a little-discussed topic in academic circles, this research sheds light on the potential of dataviz in public spaces to bring social change, facilitate innovation in the communication of complex data, and enhance the beauty of urban environments.
