Impacts of COVID-19 pandemic on the spa town Karlovy Vary

Abstract:

Diplomová práce na téma "Dopady pandemie COVID 19 na lázeňské místo Karlovy Vary", se zabývá dopady opatření, která byla přijata v souvislosti se snahou o zamezení šíření koronaviru SARS CoV 2, na cestovní ruch a lázeňský turismus v Karlových Varech. Cílem práce je analyzovat dopady na lázeňský turismus ve městě a poskytovatele služeb v tomto odvětví. V teoretické části práce je představeno lázeňství a jeho význam, dopady pandemie na cestovní ruch a lidské zdraví. Dále je zdůrazněn význam cestovního ruchu a lázeňství Karlovarského kraje v konceptu celé České republiky. Následuje charakteristika města Karlovy Vary a identifikace forem podpory vytvořených pro záchranu cestovního ruchu. Byl proveden výzkum ve formě analýzy statistických dat cestovního ruchu a rozhovorů v lázeňských a ubytovacích zařízeních. Z výzkumu bylo zjištěno, že došlo ke změně v národnostní struktuře hostů, poklesu tržeb a tvorbě nových balíčků služeb. V závěru jsou vytvořena doporučení podnikům.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis on the topic "Impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the spa town of Karlovy Vary" deals with the effects of actions taken to prevent the spread of SARS CoV 2 coronavirus on tourism and spa tourism in Karlovy Vary. The aim of this work is to analyse the impact on spa tourism in the city and service providers in this sector. The theoretical part of the thesis presents the spa and its importance and the impacts of the pandemic on tourism and human health. Furthermore, the importance of tourism and spas of the Karlovy Vary region in the concept of the whole Czech Republic is emphasized. The following is a description of the city of Karlovy Vary and the identification of forms of support created to save tourism. Research was carried out in the form of analysis of tourism statistics and interviews in spas and accommodation facilities. The research revealed that there was a change in the ethnic structure of guests, a decrease in sales and the creation of new service packages. In the end, recommendations are made to companies.
