Experiencing shame and guilt after the first casual sex among adolescent girls

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá vlivem postoje rodičů a vrstevnické skupiny k nezávaznému sexu na pociťovanou vinu a stud po prvním nezávazném sexu u adolescentních dívek. Předpokladem bylo, že čím více vrstevníci a rodiče akceptují nezávazný sex, tím menší jsou pocity studu a viny po prvním nezávazném sexu. Data byla sbírána pomocí on-line dotazníku, který zjišťoval postoj respondentek, jejich rodičů a vrstevníků k nezávaznému sexu, prožívání studu a viny po prvním nezávazném sexu, sexuální chování respondentek a demografické údaje. Výzkumu se zúčastnilo 53 dívek ve věku 15-20 let. Ověření hypotézy bylo provedeno pomocí lineárně regresního modelu. Výsledky ukazují, že akceptace nezávazného sexu rodiči souvisí s nižším prožíváním studu a viny po prvním nezávazném sexu. Souvislost byla nalezena také mezi přispěním alkoholu či jiných drog k nezávaznému sexu a prožívaným studem a vinou. Vrstevnický vliv na stud a vinu po prvním nezávazném sexu prokázán nebyl, avšak souvisel s postojem respondentek k nezávaznému sexu.

Abstract:

This study explores how the acceptance of casual sex by parents and peer group of adolescent girls effects the feelings of shame and guilt after the first casual sex. The aim of this research is to validate hypothesis that the more peers and parents accept casual sex, lower the feeling of shame and guilt after the first casual sex is. Data was collected through the on-line survey containing questions related to attitude of respondents, parents and peers towards casual sex. The survey further investigate following: experiencing shame and guilt after the first casual sex, respondent's sexual behaviour, and demographics. The research sample consisted of 53 female respondents with age between 15 and 20 years. The hypothesis was verified by applying a linear regression model on collected data. The results proves that the acceptance of casual sex by parents is related to low feelings of shame and guilt after the first casual sex. The association between the contribution of alcohol or other drugs to casual sex and experiencing shame and guilt was also found. Peer influence on shame and guilt after the first casual sex was insignificant. However, the influence was related to respondent's attitude to the casual sex.
