Automation of the M.A.T. data extraction process at ŠKODA AUTO a.s.

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá automatizací interního procesu ve společnosti ŠKODA AUTO a.s. Hlavním cílem je zmapovat celý proces vyhodnocování chybových operací a implementovat robotickou procesní automatizaci (RPA) za využití RPA nástroje Automation Anywhere a programovacího jazyka Python. Před popisem samotného vývoje je v práci nejprve popsána představa zákazníka z oddělení logistiky, následuje iniciální analýza, v rámci které byl proveden modelový průchod celým procesem. Výstupy této analýzy jsou popsány a znázorněny v high-level diagramu a procesním schématu. Dále je představené technické zadání pro jednotlivé komponenty robota a vypočítán business case. Protože odhad časové i teoretické finanční úspory je příznivý, je toto RPA schváleno k vývoji, kterému se věnuje další část práce. Na závěr je zhodnocen přínos této automatizace ve společnosti ŠKODA AUTO a.s. jak z finančního hlediska, tak i s ohledem na ostatní nefinanční aspekty automatizace. Výsledkem práce je plně automatizovaný proces vyhodnocování chybových operací, který šetří stovky hodin repetitivní práce měsíčně a který snižuje chybovost daného procesu.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the automation of an internal process at ŠKODA AUTO a.s. The main objective is to map the whole process of evaluating error operations and implement robotic process automation (RPA) using the RPA tool Automation Anywhere and the programming language Python. Before describing the actual development, the thesis first describes the idea of the customer from the logistics department, followed by an initial analysis in which a model walk through of the whole process was performed. The outputs of this analysis are described and illustrated in a high-level diagram and a process flow iagram. Furthermore, the technical specifications for the individual robot components are presented and a business case is calculated. Since the estimate of time and theoretical financial savings is favorable, this RPA is approved for development, which is the focus of the next section of the paper. Finally, the benefits of this automation at ŠKODA AUTO a.s. are evaluated both from a financial point of view and with respect to other non-financial aspects of automation. The result of the work is a fully automated process of evaluating error operations, saving hundreds of hours of repetitive work per month and reducing the error rate of the process.
