Pricing of fuel in the Czech Republic according to external influence

Abstract:

The aim of this diploma thesis is to clarify the pricing process of fuels in the Czech Republic and examine the variables influencing the final price of fuels. Fuels are part of everyday life – being used directly, when driving a car to work or indirectly by using public transport or delivering other products. Moreover, fuels are important and strategic product for a country. It can be one of the major sources of income and indispensable means during a war. The price of fuels is influenced by many factors such as oil cost, legislatives, cost of transportation or refinery cost. The structure of these individual factors is examined in this thesis. Further, as competition is another important factor influencing the price, this issue is focused on and well discussed in this paper. The main competitors in the Czech Republic are described more in detail. The author gained closer insight on this issue while working at MOL Česká republika, s.r.o. The Czech fuel market was used for this research as there is a lack of such an analysis.
