How to Familiarize a Modern Reader with the Love Poetry of Pierre de Ronsard and the Pléiade

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with love poetry of the Renaissance in France in the 16th century. Its aim is to familiarize the modern reader of the 21th century with the French literature of the Renaissance. The theoretical part is concerned with the biography of the French poet Pierre de Ronsard, his work as well as historical and poetic aspects of the 16th century. The second part of the work provides a general cultural context of the Renaissance in France and in Italy. The didactic part presents three activities, which have been created on the basis of the four poems selected from the love poetry collection by Ronsard dedicated to Cassandre, Marie and to Hélène. Each activity presented makes a suggestion for a literature class at school. They all bring more different activities, which develop students´ knowledge and their ability to work with a literary text. These activities may serve as an inspiration for the future teachers.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce pojednává o milostné poezii francouzské renesance 16. století. Jejím cílem je přiblížit francouzskou renesanční literaturu modernímu čtenáři 21. století. Teoretická část hovoří o životě francouzského básníka Pierra de Ronsarda a o jeho díle. Dále se zabývá historickými a básnickými aspekty 16. století. Druhá část podává kulturní přehled renesančního období ve Francii a v Itálii. Pedagogická část představuje tři aktivity, které byly vytvořené na základě čtyř vybraných sonetů Pierra de Ronsard ze sbírky básní věnovaných Kasandře, Marii a Heleně. Aktivity jsou návrhem tří vyučovacích hodin literatury ve škole. Přinášejí další různé aktivity, které rozvíjejí znalosti a schopnosti žáků pracovat s literárním textem. Mohou posloužit jako inspirace pro budoucí učitele.
