Ethics of Euthanasia: Comparing Opinions in Czech Netherlands and Switzerland

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou eutanazie v České republice, Holandsku a Švýcarsku. Jejím cílem je srovnání etických stanovisek k eutanazii ve třech zemích. Předmětem výzkumu bude studium odborných diskusí, tematické literatury a legislativy zemí, kde je eutanazie zákonem povolena. V rámci mapování situace v České republice se práce zabývá polarizací diskuse o tom, zda má být eutanazie legalizována či nikoliv. Za účelem prozkoumání názorů českých odborníků budou analyzovány jejich veřejné výstupy. Cílem práce je srovnání etických stanovisek ve zmíněných zemích. Předmětem výzkumu je studium odborných diskusí, tematické literatury a legislativy zemí, kde je eutanazie zákonem povolena, předpokládaným přínosem práce bude eticky relevantní zohlednění opozičních přístupů českých oborníků pomocí kritické diskursivní analýzy.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of euthanasia in the Czech Republic, the Netherlands and Switzerland. Its aim is to compare the ethical positions on euthanasia in the three countries. The subject of the research will be the study of professional discussions, thematic literature and legislation of the countries where euthanasia is legally permitted. In the context of mapping the situation in the Czech Republic, the thesis deals with the polarisation of the debate on whether euthanasia should be legalised or not. In order to explore the views of Czech experts, their public outputs will be analysed. The aim of the thesis is to compare the ethical positions in the mentioned countries. The subject of the research is the study of expert discussions, thematic literature and legislation of countries where euthanasia is legally permitted, the expected contribution of the thesis will be the ethically relevant consideration of oppositional approaches of Czech experts by means of critical discourse analysis.
