Investing in commodities with focus on agricultural commodities

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na zemědělské komodity jako investiční instrument a analyzuje možnosti komoditního investování z pohledu, jak institucionálního, tak individuálního investora. V úvodní kapitole práce definuje a charakterizuje možnosti, jaké má investor při investování do komodit a jaké postupy může zvolit. Dále je pozornost práce věnována především zemědělský komoditám, jelikož zemědělské komodity jsou elementární součást života každého člověka na planetě, aniž by si jejich váhu a důležitost uvědomoval. Následně se práce zaměřuje se na specifika obchodovaných zemědělských komodit a zkoumá hlavní faktory, kterými jsou ceny jednotlivých komodit nejvíce ovlivňovány. V klíčové části se práce do hloubky zabývá jednotlivými možnostmi investování do těchto komodit a zohledňuji komparací, které metody a možnosti jsou vhodné pro jednotlivé skupiny investorů. Investoři se mohou zaměřit na finanční trh a trh reálný, přičemž právě reálnému trhu se zemědělskými komoditami v ČR a možnostmi do něj vstoupit z pozice investora, se věnuje praktická část diplomové práce. Závěrem práce je pak zhodnocení možností a důvodů k investování do zemědělských komodit a definování investiční strategie.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis focuses on agricultural commodities as an investment instrument and analyzes the possibility of commodity investment from the perspective institutional and individual investor. The theoretical chapter defines and characterizes the possibilities of investing in commodities and which investing type they can choose. Next chapter of the thesis aims attention mainly at agricultural commodities, because agricultural commodities are the elementary part of life of every person on the planet, without realizing their weight and importance. Subsequently, the work focuses on the specifics of traded agricultural commodities and analyzes the main factors, which impacts their price. In the key part of the work is the depth focus on various options of investing in these commodities and compares methods and options for individual and institutional investors. Investors can invest at the financial market and the real market and at the real agricultural commodity market in the Czech Republic and the possibilities to enter it from positions of the investor aims the practical part of the thesis. The final part includes the evaluation of investing options and definition of investment strategy.
