Field recording as a method of industrial heritage publicity

Abstract:

Práce se věnuje fenoménu field recordingu jako specifické kategorii umělecké praxe založené na záznamu zvukového prostředí. V tomto pojetí se zaměří na její využití při uměleckých intervencích v prostředí průmyslových objektů, přičemž field recording bude pojímán jako možná metoda napomáhající publicitě průmyslového dědictví. Diplomová práce se zaměří na vybrané projekty umělců reprezentujících tuzemskou sféru v dané oblasti a pokusí se nalézt k nim vhodnou paralelu také v zahraničí. Analýzou obsahu, tvůrčího záměru a vzájemnou komparací jednotlivých děl budou zkoumána východiska a koncepty této praxe a její způsoby práce s hodnotami jako je autenticita, dokument či emocionální a estetický prožitek. Důležitým předmětem výzkumu budou také způsoby prezentace a jejich účinek na posluchače. Cílem práce pak bude najít odpověď na otázku, zda a jakým způsobem mohou umělecké počiny z oblasti field recordingu přispět k publicitě průmyslového dědictví.

Abstract:

The thesis focuses on the phenomenon of field recording as a specific category of artistic practice based on the recording of sound environments. In this conception, it will focus on its use in artistic interventions in the environment of industrial objects, while field recording will be conceived as a possible method of assisting the publicity of industrial heritage. The thesis will focus on selected projects of artists representing the domestic sphere in the given area and will try to find a suitable parallel to them abroad. By analysing the content, creative intention and comparing each work with each other, the background and concepts of this practice and its ways of working with values such as authenticity, documentary and emotional and aesthetic experience will be explored. The modes of presentation and their effect on the audience will also be an important object of research. The aim of the thesis will then be to find an answer to the question of whether and how artistic endeavours can in the field of field recording can contribute to the publicity of industrial heritage
