Abstract:

Algebra je věda věnující se matematickým symbolům a pravidlům týkajícím se operací prováděných na těchto symbolech. Význam slova "algebra" je doslova "opětovné spojení rozbitých fragmentů". Fotografuji každodenní život a běžné situace, které se mi stávají. V těchto situacích hledám abstraktní a surrealistické formy. Navzájem je kombinuji, abych vytvořila pocit absurdnosti a iluze. Na příklad pocit dezorientace vyvolané tím, že je těžké stanovit, jestli je objekt na fotografii prostorový nebo plochý. Zajímá mě psychologie vnímání a teorie týkající se toho, jak může obsah jednoho obrazu ovlivnit význam jiných, vedle umístěných obrazů. Ráda odděluji fotografie od kontextu, v němž byly pořízeny, a umísťuji je do sousedství jiných obrazů nebo předmětů, výhradně na základě scény na fotografii, abych vytvářela nové příběhy nesouvisející s opravdovými situacemi zdokumentovanými s pomocí fotografie.

Abstract:

Algebra is the study of mathematical symbols and the rules for manipulating them. The literal meaning of the word algebra is "reunion of broken parts". I photograph daily life and "normal" situations that I encounter. In those situations I search for abstract and surreal forms, to combine them together in a certain way to create a sense of absurd and illusion. For example the feeling of confusion caused by not knowing if object photographed is spatial or flat. I am interested in psychology of perception and the theories on how the content of one image can influence the meaning of another image positioned next to it. I like taking images out of context and place them next to other images or objects based on the content of the image only, to create new stories not related to the "real" situations that are documented on the photos.
