Using CAT Tools to Automate Localization of Hardware and Software Guides

Anotace:

The thesis argues that documentation localization efficiency can increase considerably if the source files are adequately prepared for localization and processing with CAT tools. It first discusses the localization process and the CAT tools used and then proceeds to analyze user documentation from the localization point of view. On the basis of these observations, a set of guidelines for optimizing user documentation for localization is formulated. Ideally, these will result in all repetitive and tedious tasks being done automatically, so that translators can concentrate their efforts and abilities on where they are really needed.
