Feminization of poverty. The selected aspects reproducing and causing poverty among women in the Slovak Republic

Abstract:

This text deals with poverty and its feminized form. Poverty is gender- differentiated phenomenon and in the society threatens more women than men. Feminization of poverty has become a trend that affects the vast majority of countries around the world, while in each of the societies takes on different forms –depending on the social and local characteristic.The work examines the evolution of the feminization of poverty in the Slovak Republic in the years 2005 to 2010, in connection with selected indicators (labour market status, income, family composition, age), which the most affect presence and depth of the risk of poverty. Based on these results then reveals how is the trend of feminization of poverty evolving in Slovakia, and whether the indicators are the selected key areas in which women are discriminated compare to men and on the basis of which then they find themselves increasingly at risk of poverty.

Abstract:

Tento text sa zaoberá chudobou a jej feminizovanou podobou. Chudoba je rodovo diferencovaný jav a v spoločnosti ohrozuje viac ženy než mužov. Feminizácia chudoby sa stala trendom, ktorý postihuje drvivú väčšinu krajín sveta, pričom v každej zo spoločností naberá na seba odlišnú podobu, v závislosti od spoločenských a lokálnych charakteristík. Práca skúma vývoj feminizácie chudoby v Slovenskej republike v rokoch 2005 až 2010, v súvislosti so zvolenými ukazovateľmi (postavenie na trhu práce, príjem, zloženie rodiny, vek),ktoré v najväčšej miere ovplyvňujú prítomnosť a hĺbku ohrozenia chudobou. Na základe týchto výsledkov potom odhaľuje, ako sa vyvíja trend feminizácie chudoby na Slovensku a či sú zvolené indikátory kľúčovými oblasťami, v ktorých sú ženy v porovnaní s mužmi diskriminované a na základe ktorých sa potom ocitajú častejšie v ohrození chudoby.
