The Maastricht Criteria in the Czech Republic Regarding the Readiness of the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Jednou z klíčových součástí procesu hospodářské integrace v Evropě je přijetí společné měny. Proces tvorby hospodářské a měnové unie probíhal v západoevropských zemích prakticky od jejich vstupu do Evropských společenství a zahrnoval celou řadu dílčích kroků, rozložených i do několika desítek let. O to složitější je začlenění států, které do devadesátých let minulého století byly součástí socialistického bloku a vstoupily do EU až na počátku 21. století. Mezi těmito zeměmi je též Česká republika, která však na rozdíl od některých jiných členů této skupiny doposud do eurozóny nevstoupila. Tato diplomová práce se zaměřuje na dosavadní průběh integračního procesu České republiky v oblasti společné měny. Klíčové jsou zde aspekty ekonomické, které jsou formulovány v tzv. Maastrichtských konvergenčních kritériích. V diplomové práci je pozornost věnována otázkám plnění těchto podmínek v průběhu členství ČR v Unii a úvahám o dalším vývoji, který by měl vyústit v přijetí jednotné měny – eura. Zároveň je zde zmíněn i politický rámec tohoto procesu, který je postaven na vůli dovršit tento proces zařazením České republiky mezi země eurozóny.

Abstract:

One key part of the process of economic integration in Europe is accepting a common currency. The process of creation of economic and monetary union took place in Western countries practically since their entry into the European Communities and included a series of incremental steps, and spread to several decades. That makes it difficult integration of States in the nineties were part of the socialist bloc and joined the EU at the beginning of the 21st century. Among these countries are also the Czech Republic, but unlike some other members of the group so far not entered into the euro zone. This thesis focuses on the current progress of the integration process of the Czech Republic in the common currency area. Here are the key economic aspects, which are formulated in the so-called. Maastricht Convergence criteria. In this thesis, attention is paid to issues of fulfillment of these conditions during the Czech membership in the European Union and reflection on future developments which should lead to the adoption of the single currency - the euro. It is mentioned here as well as the political framework of this process, which is based on the will to complete this process by including the Czech Republic among eurozone countries.
