Positive Roles of Guide Dog from the Point of View of People with Blindness

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na přínosy vodícího psa do života osob s nevidomostí. Bakalářská práce je rozdělen a teoretickou část a část praktickou. Cílem teoretické části je blíže seznámit s problematikou osob s různými typy těžkého zrakového postižení a také blíže poukázat na problematiku vodících psů. Teoretická část je celkem rozdělena do čtyř kapitol. První kapitola vymezuje základní pojmy týkající se zrakového postižení a poukazuje na příčiny vzniku zrakového postižení. Blíže se změří i na nevidomost jako takovou, jelikož právě nevidomost je důležitá pro praktickou část. Druhá kapitola pojednává o důsledcích nevidomosti v každodenním životě. Konkrétněji se zaměřuje na vývoj kognitivních funkcí, prostorovou orientaci a socializaci osob s nevidomostí. Ve třetí kapitole jsou zmíněny kompenzační pomůcky pro osoby s nevidomostí týkající se především prostorové orientace a samostatného pohybu. Čtvrtá kapitola se zaměřuje právě na problematiku týkající se vodících psů. Cílem praktické, tedy výzkumné části, je analyzovat a interpretovat přínosy vodících psů pro osoby s nevidomostí. Pro výzkum byla zvolena kvalitativní výzkumná strategie, konkrétně polostrukturovaný rozhovor a metoda zakotvené teorie.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis focuses on the positive benefits of a guide dog in a life of a blind person. The bachelor thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part aims to present the problematics of a blind person with several types of visual impairment and points to the problematics of guide dogs. The theoretical part is divided into four chapters. The first chapter defines basic terms considering visual impairment, describes the causes of the origin of the visual impairment. It also focuses on blindness itself because blindness is significant for the practical part. The second chapter deals with the impact of blindness in everyday life. It specifically focuses on the development of cognitive functions, spatial orientation, and socialization of blind individuals. In the third chapter, I mention compensatory tools for blind people related to spatial orientation and independent movement. The fourth chapter focuses on the problematics of guide dogs. The goal of the practical, which means the research part, is to analyze and interpret the positive benefits of guide dogs for blind people. A qualitative research strategy was used for the research, specifically a semi-structured interview and an anchored theory method.
