The Critique of Extropianism from the Aspect of Evolutionary Ontology

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce „Kritika extropiánství z pohledu evoluční ontologie“ pojednává o nebezpečné snaze extropiánů vzít přirozenou evoluci do vlastních rukou. V současné době, kdy ekologická krize vrcholí, jsou však snahy ovládnout přirozenou evoluci a vymanit člověka z „okovů kruté přírody“, neadekvátní. Pokud se nezmění antropocentrická orientace lidské kultury, lidstvo v důsledku ekologické krize vymře. První část práce se zabývá představením filozofie evoluční ontologie a jejími problémy. Vysvětluje konflikt lidské kultury a přírody a ekologickou krizi, která je důsledkem protipřírodní orientace lidské kultury. Hodnotí podstatu dvou vývojových linií techniky – biotické a protipřírodní – abiotické. Řešení ekologické krize pak evoluční ontologie vidí v koncepci biofilní kultury (naturalizace techniky a lidského vzdělávání). Druhá část shrnuje a popisuje myšlenkové hnutí extropiánů, kteří vycházejí z filozofie transhumanismu. Představuje hlavní představitele extropiánství, zakladatele Maxe Mora, základní principy extropiánství a témata související s extropiánstvím jako je singularita, problémy tzv. posthumánní éry, prodlužování života, kyborgizace a kryonika. Ve třetí části kritizujeme snahy extropiánů, kteří jsou až příliš velkými technooptimisty. Poukazujeme na možné etické, ekologické a globální následky myšlenkového hnutí extropiánů. Upozorňujeme na zásadní rozpory mezi evoluční ontologií a extropiánstvím a nebezpečím odumírání lidskosti v nás.

Abstract:

Diploma thesis „The critique of extropianism from the aspect of evolutionary ontology“ deals with dangerous pursuit of extropianists to take natural evolution in their own hands. Nowadays, when the ecological crisis culminates, are pursuits to gain control of natural evolution and free man from “the shackles of cruel nature”, inadequate. If antropocentric orientation of human culture does not change, mankind will face extinction due to the ecological crisis. The first section of work is an introduction to philosophy of evolutionary ontology and its problems. It describes the conflict between human culture and the nature and ecological crisis whitch is an effect of the contradiction of culture and nature. It evaluates two evolutionary lines of technics – the biotic one and the one opposite to nature – the abiotic one. Evolutionary ontology sees the solution of ecological crisis in conception of biofil culture (naturalization of technics nad human education). The second part summarises and describes the constricted extropianism movement that comes out from the philosophy of transhumanism. It presents general representatives of extropianism, the founder Max More and his basic principles of extropianism. Next themes related to extropianism are singularity, problems of so-called post human era, prolonging of life, cyborgism and cryonics. The third part criticizes efforts of extropianists who are too much technooptimistic. It advert to possible ethic, ecological and global implication of constricted movement of extropianism. It points out to fundamental contradiction between evolutionary ontology and extropianism and the danger of dieback of humanity in us.
