Structural chromosomal aberrations affecting chromosome 18

Abstract:

Chromosom 18 často vstupuje do strukturních chromosomových přestaveb. Tyto přestavby (nebo také chromosomové aberace) mohou mít mnoho podob. Nejprozkoumanější jsou parciální delece ramének a ring chromosom. Parciální trisomie a tetrasomie jsou zřídkakdy detekovány. To je důvod, proč o těchto aberacích není mnoho dostupných informací. Práce pojednává o jednotlivých aberacích a jejich charakteristice na molekulární úrovni, místech zlomů a jejich vzniku na chromosomu 18 a o genech, které jsou spojeny s patologickými fenotypy u pacientů s nebalancovanými aberacemi chromosomu 18.

Abstract:

Chromosome 18 often undergoes structural chromosomal rearrangements. These rearrangements (also chromosomal aberrations) can take many forms. The most explored are partial deletions of arms and a ring chromosome. Partial trisomies and partial tetrasomy are rarely detected. This is the reason, why there is not enough information available about these aberrations. This thesis deals with individual abberations and their characterization at a molecular level, breakpoints and their formation on the chromosome 18 and with genes that are associated with pathological phenotypes in patients with unbalanced aberrations of chromosome 18.
