Definiton, Valuation and Presentaiton of Information on Inventories in Financial and Management Accounting

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na problematiku vymezení, oceňování a vykazování informací o podnikových zásobách, a to jednak z hlediska informačních potřeb tzv. externích uživatelů a podnikových manažerů. Základním cílem práce je posoudit, do jaké míry se požadavky těchto dvou skupin uživatelů na vymezení, oceňování a vykazování informací o zásobách shodují, resp. liší. První část práce se zaměřuje na informační potřeby externích uživatelů finančního účetnictví. Jejím cílem je posoudit, jak se tyto potřeby odrážejí v požadavcích systému Mezinárodních účetních standardů, resp. Mezinárodních standardů účetního výkaznictví a Všeobecně uznávaných zásad, uplatňovaných ve Spojených státech amerických na vymezení, oceňování a vykazování těchto aktiv; Druhá část je věnována srovnávací analýze těchto mezinárodně respektovaných přístupů s požadavky české legislativy a národních účetních standardů; Jejím výstupem jsou jednak náměty na úpravu účetní legislativy do budoucna, jednak na řešení některých otázek, přesahujících rámec legislativy, v rámci národních účetních standardů nebo jejich interpretací; Obsahem třetí části jsou základní přístupy, které se projevují ve vymezení, oceňování a vykazování zásob z hlediska potřeb řízení z pozice podnikového managementu; Obsahem závěrečné části je srovnání přístupů k vymezení, oceňování a vykazování informací o zásobách z hlediska externích uživatelů a podnikových manažerů s hlavním zřetelem na vymezení hlavního cíle práce.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis is oriented to the area of definition, valuation and presentation of relevant information about company inventories. From this view-point, it concentrates on the differences between information needs of external users of financial accounting and company managers who uses management accounting information. Principle topic of the thesis is to judge whether and to what extend the information needs of both groups of users are unified or different. The first part of thesis is devoted to information requirements of financial accounting information external users. Its principle aim is to judge how their information needs regarding definition, valuation and presentation of information about inventories are reflected in the requirements of the International Accounting Standards / International Financial Reporting Standards and in the United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. The second part is devoted to the comparative analysis of the above stated world-wide respected approaches with the requirements of the Czech accounting legislation and national standards. The suggestions how to improve Czech legislation, standards and interpretations for the future create the main outcome of this part. The third part is devoted to the principle approaches which influence managers´ requirement to definition, valuation and presentation of information about company inventories. The final part of thesis compares approaches to definition, valuation and presentation of information about company inventories from the view-point of both groups of users and defines conclusions regarding mutual relations between financial and management accounting.
