Special purpose vocabulary and its delivery methods within foreign language courses at the Higher Medical Vocational School in Brno

Abstract:

In my Master´s Thesis , I analyse the presentation and the possibility to work with vocabulary of the textbook „Sprechen Sie Deutsch?" designed for medical schools. I try to determine how much are the students of the medical school in Brno motivated to learn german and how much emphasis do they put into vocabulary. Doing this analysis, I focus on the lectures dedicated to nurses. 18 lectures with detailed analysis bring many important, as well as interesting medical fields appreciated by every nurse, female or male. First part of the thesis contains 3 chapters and represents the introduction the problematics. It deals with a divison of the vocabulary according to specific criterias depending on dialects, regions and society. It aims to characterize the technical language and its diversity. Next, I describe the motivation and the strategy to learn german vocabulary, theoretical and academic materials and the phases of learning the vocabulary by students. The theory also mentions materials designed to teach the foregin language on the professional level, such as methodology, goals, different language excercises and the presentation of the vocabulary. The practical part of the work attempts to describe different types of excercises which put the emphasis on the improvement and practise of the vocabulary. The use of dictionaries is spotted in certain lectures as well.

Abstract:

V mojej diplomovej práci analyzujem sprostredkovanie slovnej zásoby a prácu so slovnou zásobou v učebnici Sprechen Sie Deutsch? pre zdravotnícke obory. Ďalej sa pokúšam zistiť, ako sú žiaci z vyššej odbornej školy zdravotníckej v Brne motivovaní k učeniu nemčiny a ako sa učia slovnú zásobu. Pri analýze som sa sústredila na tie lekcie, ktoré sú určené pre všeobecné zdravotné sestry. 18 analyzovaných lekcií tematizuje mnoho zaujímavých a potrebných zdravotníckych oblastí, ktoré nájdu ohlas u každej zdravotnej sestry a každého zdravotného brata. Prvá časť práce je uvedená v 3 kapitolách ako teoretický úvod do problematiky. Zaoberá sa určením a delením nemeckej slovnej zásoby podľa nárečových, regionálnych a spoločenských kritérií a charakterizuje odborný jazyk a jeho zvláštnosti. Ďalej sú popísané motivácia a stratégie k učeniu slovnej zásoby, učebne teoretické, didaktické podklady a fázy sprostredkovania slovnej zásoby. V teórií sú uvedené aj podklady k profesne orientovanej výuke cudzieho jazyka, to znamená ciele, metódy, spôsob sprostredkovania slovnej zásoby a formy cvičení k odbornej lexike. Praktická časť práce popisuje jednotlivé typy cvičení, ktoré sa zameriavajú na precvičovanie slovnej zásoby. V jednotlivých lekciách je sledovaný aj výskyt slovníkov.
