Formula Student - Traction battery design

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce navazuje na autorovu bakalářskou práci s cílem dokončit návrh elektrického a mechanického uspořádání trakční baterie studentské elektroformule a zkonstruovat a otestovat nejprve jeden segment trakční baterie a poté i celou trakční baterii. Trakční baterie popisovaná v této práci je vyvíjena v rámci projektu studentské elektroformule, což je soutěž, jejímž účelem je vytvořit příležitost pro studenty bakalářských a magisterských studijních programů ukázat svoje schopnosti na reálném interdisciplinárním mezinárodním projektu. S ohledem na rychle se vyvíjející technologie v oblasti automotive bylo zapotřebí ověřit aktuálnost a správnost návrhu trakční baterie. Proto byl v prvé řadě proveden nový výpočet energie trakční baterie a také nová rešerše bateriových článků. Nově vybraný článek byl poté důkladně měřen. Na základě toho musela být navržena zcela nová mechanická a elektrická koncepce trakční baterie. Po dokončení návrhu byla spuštěna prototypová výroba jednoho segmentu baterie, jejíž součástí bylo i jeho odladění. Nově navržená trakční baterie studentské elektroformule bude složená ze 288 článků typu Li-Po - SLPBA942126 a bude rozdělená do 8 segmentů s konfigurací 36S2P (celkově tak bude mít trakční baterie konfiguraci 144S2P). Díky nově vybranému článku se jmenovité napětí baterie zvýšilo na 532,8 V (maximální na rovných 600 V), baterie dokáže dodávat po celý svůj vybíjecí cyklus maximální dovolený výkon 80 kW, její jmenovitá energie bude 7,46 kWh a předpokládaná hmotnost trakční baterie by neměla přesáhnout 57,5 kg. Výsledky této práce jsou pro vývoj studentské elektroformule velmi důležité, protože přináší z hlediska vývoje trakční baterie veliký posun dopředu. Zároveň tato práce poslouží jako pomocný materiál při samotné konstrukci a testování baterie i při vývoji baterií budoucích generací. Mimo jiné je možné poznatky získané z této práce využít i pro vývoj jiných trakčních baterií.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis follows the author's bachelor's thesis in order to complete the design of the electrical and mechanical arrangement of the traction battery of the student electrical formula and to construct and test first one segment of the traction battery and then the entire traction battery. The traction battery described in this work is developed within the project of student electroformula, which is a competition whose purpose is to create opportunity for students of bachelor's and master's degree programs to show their abilities on a real interdisciplinary international project. With regard to the rapidly evolving technologies in the field of automotive, it was necessary to verify the currentness and accuracy of the traction battery design. Therefore, a new calculation of traction battery energy was performed in the first place, as well as a new search of battery cells. The newly selected cell was then thoroughly measured. Based on this, a completely new mechanical and electrical traction battery concept had to be designed. After the completion of the design, prototype production of one segment of the battery was started, which also included its debugging. The newly designed traction battery of the student electrical formula will consist of 288 Li-Po cells - SLPBA942126 and will be divided into 8 segments with a 36S2P configuration (overall, the traction battery will have a 144S2P configuration). Thanks to the newly selected cell, the nominal voltage of the battery has increased to 532.8 V (maximum to 600 V), the battery can supply the tractive system by the maximum allowable power of 80 kW throughout its discharge cycle, its nominal energy will be 7.46 kWh and the expected weight of the traction battery would should not exceed 57.5 kg. The results of this work are very important for the development of the student electrical formula, because it brings a great step forward in terms of traction battery development. At the same time, this work will serve as an auxiliary material in the construction and testing of the battery and in the development of batteries of future generations. Among other things, the knowledge gained from this work can be used for the development of other traction batteries.
