Abstract:

The thesis describes the importance of cryptography to protect data, history of cryptology, cryptoanalysis, goals of cryptography, symmetric and asymmetric encryption algorithms. The focus of the thesis is on the AES and the RSA encryption algorithms, explaining how they work in more detail. Based on the literature review, a prototype application is developed using a hybrid encryption and decryption method that combines both AES and RSA algorithms together to compensate for their own weaknesses and achieve better security. The design of the prototype application is illustrated using data flow diagrams and code snippets, which describe the main stages of program creation. The security that the developed prototype application provides is then discussed mainly in relation to the main goals of cryptography.
