Effect of Solvency II on insurance operations

Abstract:

Diplomová práce „Vliv Solvency II na hospodaření pojišťoven“ se zabývá směrnicí Evropské unie Solvency II a má za cíl ukázat její očekávané dopady na hospodaření pojišťoven s důrazem na český pojistný trh. První část práce má za cíl vysvětlit základní pojmy, uvést současnou českou související legislativu a provést analýzu českého pojistného trhu. Druhá část se zabývá srovnáním požadavků směrnic Solvency I a Solvency II. Třetí část obsahuje výsledky různých studií na téma Solvency II a výsledky anonymního dotazníku, který byl rozeslán českým pojišťovnám. Poslední část analyzuje ukazatele hospodaření vybraných českých pojišťoven. Praktický přínos práce spočívá v analýze dopadů Solvency II na hospodaření pojišťoven a ve formulaci doporučení pro management.

Abstract:

The thesis “Effect of Solvency II on Insurance Operations” deals with the European Union directive Solvency II and aims to show its probable impact on insurance operations with a primary focus on the Czech insurance market. The first part of the paper seeks to explain fundamental terminology, apply related Czech legislation and analyze the Czech insurance market. The second part compares requirements of Solvency I and Solvency II Directives. The third part shows results of various studies on the Solvency II topic and results of an anonymous questionnaire that was sent to Czech insurance companies. The last part analyzes indicators of selected Czech insurance companies. Practical contribution of the paper consists in analysis of the impact of Solvency II on insurance operations and in formulation of recommendations for the management.
