Quality of life of senior widows living in intergenerational cohabitation in rural areas

Abstract:

Ve své diplomové práci se zabývám subjektivním vnímáním kvality života seniorek vdov žijících v mezigeneračním soužití. Cílem práce je popsat a interpretovat kvalitu života a faktory, které ji ovlivňují, z pohledu žen, které prožívají závěrečnou etapu života jako vdovy v mezigeneračním soužití. Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a empirickou část. V teoretické části práce jsou objasněny základní termíny týkající se různých aspektů stárnutí a stáří, kvality života a mezigeneračních vztahů. Empirická část vychází z kvalitativní metodologie a zaměřuje se na analýzu informací získaných z výzkumného šetření, které bylo realizováno s vybranými respondentkami formou polostrukturovaných rozhovorů. Tématem byly prožité skutečnosti a charakteristika kvality současného života. Následuje interpretace dat, jejímž cílem je nalézt odpovědi na výzkumné otázky.

Abstract:

In my diploma thesis, I deal with subjective perception of the quality of life of senior widows who live in intergenerational cohabitation. The aim of the thesis is to describe and interpret the quality of life and the factors influencing it from the point of view of women who spend the later years of their life as widows living in intergenerational cohabitation. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and an empirical part. In the theoretical part, the basic terms concerning various aspects of ageing, old age, quality of life and intergenerational relations are explained. The empirical part is based on the qualitative methodology and focuses on the analysis of information gained during investigation performed with selected female respondents using the form of semi structured interviews. The interviews were focused on lived experience and characterization of quality of their present life. Then interpretation of the data follows, which is aimed at finding answers to the research questions.
