Perception of Russian language among students at selected high schools in the Czech republic

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na analýzu současného vnímání a porozumění ruskému jazyku žáky středních škol, a to takových středních škol, kde se ruský jazyk jako cizí jazyk nevyučuje. Teoretická část je věnována postavení češtiny a ruštiny mezi slovanskými jazyky a vzájemným podobnostem a odlišnostem těchto jazyků. Dále je věnována pozornost česko-ruským vztahům v určitých historických obdobích. Rovněž je v teoretické části objasněn pojem mezijazykové interference a bilingvismu na příkladu češtiny a ruštiny. Praktická část je založena na kvantitativním šetření, konkrétně se jedná o dotazníkové šetření. Výzkum je založen na percepci ruského jazyka současnou středoškolskou mládeží, na porozumění písemnému projevu a slovní zásoby ruského jazyka u žáků SŠ. Dále je ověřována znalost žáků SŠ o ruské kultuře, historii a reáliích Ruské federace.

Abstract:

The aim of this Master thesis is to analyze contemporary perception and comprehension of Russian language among students at high schools, and specifically those high schools where Russian language is not being taught. The theoretical part focuses on the position of Czech and Russian languages among Slavic languages, and incorporates both mutual similarities and differences of such languages. Furthermore, there is focus on Czech-Russian relations in particular historical periods. The theoretical part also clarifies the concept of interlingual interference in bilingualism on the example of Czech and Russian languages. The practical part is based on the quantitative research, particularly on the questionnaire. The questionnaire consists of several parts that measure perception of Russian language and comprehension of text reading as well as vocabulary among high school students. Last but not least, the questionnaire investigates the students' knowledge of Russian culture and history.
