Vznik nádorů je vícekrokový proces, na kterém se podílí jak změny genetické, tedy hromadění somatických mutací, tak i epigenetické, mezi které patří především změny v metylaci DNA, modifikaci histonů, pozici nukleozomů a expresi miRNA. Karcinogenesis is a multistep process caused by both genetic changes represented by accumulation of somatic mutations, and epigenetic changes which include aberrations of DNA methylation, histone modifications, nucleosome positioning and miRNA expression.
